Health & Safety
At Fury FC, player safety is our top priority. This page outlines our policies and best practices to keep players, families, and staff safe during training and competition.
Concussion Awareness
Fury FC follows concussion management protocols in accordance with CDC guidelines. If a player is suspected of having a concussion, they must be removed from play immediately and evaluated by a medical professional.
Free Online Concussion Training for Coaches
Coaches can coaches to complete the CDC’s HEADS UP online training for youth sports coaches.
This free course helps coaches:
- Recognize signs and symptoms of concussion
- Learn what steps to take if a concussion is suspected
- Understand how to support safe recovery and return to play
Training last updated April 5, 2024. Coaches completing the course can download a certificate of completion via CDC TRAIN.
Return-to-Play Protocol
Players diagnosed with a concussion must be cleared by a licensed healthcare provider before returning to practices or games. We follow a gradual return-to-play protocol to ensure full recovery:
6-Step Return-to-Play Progression:
- Rest (24–48 hours)
- Light aerobic activity
- Sport-specific activity
- Non-contact drills
- Full-contact practice (if cleared)
- Return to competition
Lightning Safety
Fury FC follows US Soccer and local guidelines regarding severe weather. In the event of thunder or lightning, all activities are suspended immediately. Play will not resume until 30 minutes after the last sound of thunder or sight of lightning.
We prioritize safety and err on the side of caution when determining whether to continue or cancel games and practices.
Lightning Safety
